High altitude, high-octane excitement in Lebanon drifting contest
Aug 15, 2017
Our exciting sponsorship of the Red Bull Car Park Drift Series 2017 continues with the latest event in Lebanon attracting an enormous 10,000 spectators.
The packed qualifying round, held in a Kfardebian parking lot on August 13, whittled down 20 bold drivers to just one Lebanon King of Drift - Sary Zahalan, who wowed the judges with his skills not only in drifting, but also the look and design of his unique BMW E46 Compact car.
Zahalan, who scored a flawless victory with 357 points [from a maximum of 400] awarded by the four-strong judging panel, will now go on to represent Lebanon at the 2017 Red Bull Car Park Drift Grand Final in Kuwait, the thrilling culmination of a series of national qualifiers, featuring drifters from Kuwait, Egypt, Lebanon, Mauritius, Bahrain, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Oman, Qatar and UAE.
The judging panel comprised a panel of motorsports experts including Rally Champion Jean Pierre Nasrallah, TV show presenter Mustafa Fakhri, ATCL member Elie Ghanem, and Red Bull athlete Ahmed Daham.
As a key sponsor of the event – held at the highest altitude of all the rounds – Falken Tires gave away two passes to the event via our Facebook page, while another lucky Falken follower won an awe-inspiring co-pilot ride experience with Red Bull athlete Abdo 'Dado' Feghali, who has supervised the drifting event for nearly a decade, and is the man behind the 2012 Guinness World Record for the longest drift in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The Falken Tires booth was mobbed with drifting fans, some of whom managed to take home one of 800 “goodie bags”, each containing a branded Falken cap, mug and key chain.
Inspired by the smoking tires of the ski resort event, we also distributed 2,000 discount vouchers, offering 45 percent discount on the purchase of Falken tires.
